The GUMURRII Student Success Unit brings this to life by being the ‘hub’ of the University’s First Peoples (i.e. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander) student community, developing and supporting the academic activities of First Peoples students and their success.
GUMURRII is a dedicated Student Success Unit for First Peoples students that assists all undergraduate and postgraduate students in their educational journeys from attraction to success. GUMURRII works in direct partnership, consultation and collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and endeavours to complement all aspects of University life by offering a safe and culturally appropriate environment to enhance the student experience.
As a Casual Learning Assistance Officer you will be required to work with the GUMURRII Team to provide culturally sensitive learning advice and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at Griffith University. The incumbent will foster and maintain a work ethic that supports and promotes the overall objectives of the GUMURRII Student Support Unit (SSU) and the University.
The Casual Learning Assistance Officer will be part of a team to advance the student support functions of the Unit. This will involve communicating and liaising with students and staff within the Unit, across the University and with various external agents in providing assistance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students where appropriate
This is a casual position based at the Gold Coast campus.
This is an identified Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander role under section 25 of the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
