People Services Branch (PSB) is embarking on an exciting but challenging evolution. As HR professionals we are committed to enabling the department’s strategic objectives and transformation agenda. Our veterans are relying on us to ensure that we have the right people in the right roles at the right time to help them to get the right support when they need it. In PSB, our role is to build a future fit workforce, with the right skills and capabilities to drive our business outcomes. To enable this we are modernising how we provide human resources solutions. Our team is working together with business areas to drive efficient and effective service delivery and high quality capability and development solutions to our customers

To get the right person for the role, applications are encouraged from people with experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered for this role.

Our PSB leadership is a committed and experienced team who are passionate about guiding and coaching team members through their careers and helping them to build their individual skills and capabilities as public servants, HR professionals and change agents. We want you to be a successful member of our team and will support you in our shared endeavours to deliver customer-focussed HR outcomes; ensuring DVA staff receive HR services that are simple to access, transparent, consistent and meaningful.

The ideal candidates are experienced HR professionals, with qualifications or significant lived experience in HR across any sector, who:
• thrive on problem solving,
• are curious and open to new ideas and ways of doing business,
• consistently maintain a customer-centric approach in their daily performance,
• can understand and anticipate the strategic operating environment in DVA, the Australian Public Service, the HR sector, Government, and Australian societal expectations, producing advice and strategies that sit on within these considerations, and
• can work collaboratively, without exception, with peers to achieve sustainable and long-lasting outcomes.

Future leaders in PSB role model ethical behaviours, holding themselves to a higher standard because of their HR standing in an organisation. PSB leaders encourage debate and a mix of ideas to come up with the best solutions and also demonstrate respectful challenges of preconceptions or ideas from senior decision-makers to provide forthright, informed and fearless advice.
