About the organisation
The Australian Indigenous Governance Institute (AIGI) is an Indigenous-led national centre specialising in governance, knowledge and excellence. AIGI support the economic, social and cultural aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples by connecting them with world-class governance practice, research, thought leadership and educational resources.
AIGI is governed by a Board of Directors and the role will be required to undertake research and development projects as directed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Research will collaborate with the Australian National University and other stakeholders.

About you
This role will attract high level strategic thinkers with strong academic track records and deep connections in the academic and Indigenous sectors. It requires an experienced leader with sound research and relevant professional capabilities.
To be successful in this role you will be academically accomplished, articulate and energetic. You will bring with you a wealth of knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal cultures, and a proven ability to engage with Traditional Owners and build Aboriginal community capacity. Your understanding of State and national policy frameworks, the academic environment, government process and good governance has been gained through working in a leadership position.
