About the role

 

We have a permanent opportunity for our Manager – Remote Aboriginal Communities to lead the Remote Aboriginal Communities Team to effectively manage the Remote Aboriginal Communities Program, directing the delivery of the program to the communities. This includes planning, engagement and investment decision frameworks. This role will be based in our Leederville office reporting to the Head of Asset Investment Planning Regional.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Develop strategies and objectives to enable the transition for the Corporation to regularise Remote Aboriginal Communities and Town Based Communities
  • Manage and coordinate policy positions and provide advice to the Board, Executive and Senior Management on the key external issues related to the Remote Aboriginal Communities Program
  • Act as the conduit between the Corporation and the Department of Communities to influence both parties to deliver beneficial outcomes for the Remote Aboriginal Communities
  • Represent the Water Corporation at key external stakeholder committees with agencies such as the Department of Communities, Horizon Power and Treasury
  • Responsible for financial and business performance of the Remote Aboriginal Communities Program to achieve program delivery criteria, including budget and scope
  • Undertake business performance reviews and provide strategic advice on individual investment and/or program proposals
  • Manage the program and schedule to ensure optimum capital and operating solutions are proposed to be funded to meet business requirements

 

Key skills and experience

 

  • Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Considerable experience working with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders
  • Significant leadership experience in management or supervisory positions in a similar function.
  • Considerable experience developing and leveraging relationships with Government departments to influence and deliver beneficial outcomes
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of past policies and legislations impacting Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people
  • Ability to manage large scale, state-wide programs, including stakeholder engagement
