About the organisation 

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Corporation (NATSIEC) is the national peak body representing Indigenous education. NATSIEC members are Indigenous Education Consultative Bodies (IECBs). In 2018, the IECBs raised the importance of establishing a community-controlled national peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education. In 2023, NATSIEC was established as the peak, independent, community-controlled, national voice on Aboriginal education. NATSIEC is registered with ORIC, a member of the Coalition of Peaks, and sponsored by the Federal Department of Education. 

About the role 

The Administration Manager reports directly to the CEO of NATSIEC and will work collaboratively with other NATSIEC staff and board. This position was created to provide administration support to the co-chairs and board of NATSIEC. This position is required to manage the NATSIEC office and administration tasks, with oversight of logistics, office budget, resources and procurement. Additionally, other administrative tasks may arise as directed by the CEO, like arranging board meetings or coordinating events and travel.

About you 

You will have previous experience in high level administration management. You will be self-motivated where you are able to manage your own time to achieve outcomes, while being resilient where you can overcome obstacles. You will be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances in the workplace whilst effectively prioritising work and addressing what is most important. You will be a strong communicator, who understands the importance of relationship building, especially with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders and organisations, and able to maintain effective relationships and networks with key stakeholders. 

Key Requirements 

  1. A sound knowledge of Aboriginal culture, community and networks and an understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal people - particularly in education and training. 
  2. Demonstrated, extensive experience in high-level administrative management. 
  3. Work collaboratively with key providers, including human resources, legal, governance, risk management, information technology support, finances and accounting. 
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in organising and managing multiple tasks simultaneously, with the ability to prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  5. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. 
  6. Ability to assist in NATSIEC’s reporting responsibilities, including governance and compliance.

Additional Requirements 

  • Responding to Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care course completion (or be prepared to complete this free, online course if you are successful). 
  • The successful applicant must be able to pass a National Police Check. Any unrelated offences to working with children will not hinder your application. 
  • Driver’s licence
