Caseworker, Leaving Care

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated person to work for Narang Bir-rong Aboriginal Corporation (Narang Bir-rong). Narang Bir-rong provides Family Support Services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families in Western Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Northern Sydney/Eastern Sydney/Sydney and connected communities as well as Out of Home Care placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who cannot remain at home due to abuse and/or neglect.
TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
This role provides support to young people leaving care (aged 15 to 18). The main focus of the role is implementing and overseeing of programs that will benefit Young People in the Leaving Care Program.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Aboriginality is a genuine qualification under the Anti-Discrimination Act. Valid
- NSW Driver’s license
- Probity checks including NSW Working with Children’s check & National Police Check
- Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination
- Qualifications in community services, social work, psychology or relevant social science field.
- Experience or knowledge in child and family welfare and in foster care or a related area of alternate care for children is desirable, although not essential.
- Knowledge of issues pertaining to the Stolen Generation and transgenerational trauma.
- Knowledge of issues surrounding abuse and neglect of children and the impact of trauma and child protection.
- High level of oral and written communication skills, demonstrated report writing and presentation skills and use of Microsoft office programs including word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Varied professional and general life experience.
- Mature outlook and well-developed communication skills.

NBAC PAY SCALES (ABOVE AWARD WAGE)
CW/S6 to CW/S14 Total Package Value $92,806.10 - $117,898.51 (value is dependent on qualifications and experience. The total package value includes leave loading and Superannuation).

Where will the candidate be working?
The role is full-time (35hrs) and will be based at our Penrith Office.
